The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS® or Dolby® 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference.
This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

* Note: Before using this cable, you must remove the plastic tip protectors. The tips of the connectors should be shiny, metal, and gold. If you see a plastic tip, remove it before attempting to install the cable.

Question: The connector doesn''t seem to fit the port on my equipment. Did I purchase the wrong size or type of cable?
Answer: Probably not. Most consumer electronics use the same type of toslink connector for digital optical connections.
Look at the tip of the connectors on your cables. It should have a shiny, gold metal tip. If it is a milky, white plastic tip, pull it off. That is the dust cap used to protect the lens during shipping. It should now easily snap into the port on your equipment.
If it still doesn''t fit, make sure the orientation is correct. One side of the connector is bevelled so they will only fit one way.
Question: What's the difference between 5.0mm and 8.0mm and how do I know which size to get?
Answer: The measurements are of the outer diameter of the cable body itself. It does not affect the connectors. Either will work and the cables are interchangeable regardless of it's thickness. The thicker bodies cable are more durable, better looking and come with a protective nylon mesh outer covering.
Question: Are your Toslink Digital Optical cables plastic or glass? Is one better than the other?
Answer: All our Toslink cables are POF (Plastic Optical Fiber).
For most audio systems, you should not hear any difference between a plastic optical cable and a glass quartz optical cable unless your are at lengths exceeding 100 feet and transmitting at extreme bandwidth levels.
In fact, the performance with plastic has been improving because the Opto-electrical Components (used in Audio Equipment) are designed to interface with POF fibers.

Refund Policy
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
The original shipping cost or pickup fee paid by the buyer is not refundable (if the delivery was successful).
The shipping costs associated to send the package back to CABLES ON SALE LTD must be paid by the client/buyer. If it is a warranty issue, we will pay for the return.
If your order was shipped free of charge, the original shipping cost will be deducted from the refund.
Please contact us ahead of time, regarding your intention to return an item. Include your name, order number, order details and if you would prefer a refund or store credit. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, for your protection we advise that you include insurance for the value of the item returned and a tracking number. We must be able to track your return shipment in case of loss; we cannot refund lost returns.

Exceptions / non-returnable items Items that are broken, used or damaged for other reason than warranty may not be returned.
Items purchased from Monoprice United States may not be returned to us.
